Subtle Smokey Eye for an Engagement Shoot

Hi Bellas,

I'm back with pictures from a recent engagement shoot I did. I worked with the BF who did photography and I did the makeup. The bride-to-be was naturally gorgeous and really easy going when it came to the makeup. It was a breeze to make her over. After the makeover, I came along to the shoot to touch up and assist the photographer.

The shots that I'm featuring were edited pictures selected from the couple.  Unfortunately none of them are amazing up close makeup shots.  I ended up doing a subtle smokey eye featuring silver (MAC Idol Eyes) on the lid, black on the outer v (MAC Carbon), brown above the crease (MAC Texture) and a subtle highlight color (MAC Bamboo).  I then used MAC Viva Glam V lipstick and gloss on the lips.  I wanted to keep the makeup on the natural side since these were more casual outdoor shots.  I'll have an upcoming post featuring some of the wedding shots where I do a more enhanced version of this look.

When you're doing touch-ups on an outdoor shoot, it's appropriate to have the appropriate materials to make sure that you keep the clients fresh and camera-ready.

Here are some must-have touch up items from this shoot:
-wet wipes:  client can clean off their hands after sitting on the ground and doing various outdoor shots
-blotting wipes:  touch-up shine
-paper towels:  absorb sweat
-lipgloss:  lips and the t-zone should be the main items to touch-up
-bobby pins:  I keep some in my touch-up bag just in case.  It was super windy that day and they came in really handy to pin the hair down.

If you want to see the touch-up bag I used, check out this oldie but goodie video on how I came up with an inexpensive set-bag:

Enjoy!
