Showing posts with label sanitizing. Show all posts

Hi Bellas, As we're all trying to stay sane and healthy amongst the current Corona Virus crises, I thought it might be helpful to really show you how to sanitize and deep clean your makeup kit and the right way to hygienically apply makeup to your clients. I just finished deep cleaning my kit and I feel really great that I was able to do this during a time when I'm not currently working with clients or out teaching makeup classes.

Hi Bellas,

I was inspired to do this video because a makeup girlfriend of mine and I were chatting about our favorite brush cleansers.   And yes, some are much better than others.  I thought I'd give you a run down of the best and the worst and how to use them to get the best results.  I've even included a test comparing some of the most popular in my opinion.  Brush cleaning is super important so this is worth a watch.  Check it out!

Hi Bellas,

Happy Friday!  Today I’m featuring the second post in my series of Friday giveaways for the next month.  These are all going to be my Holy Grail favorite makeup items that I love love love!  All of these items are ones I have been using for years on myself and in my kit and are now available on my Alcone Site.  Check it out for a chance to win!

Hi Bellas,

I've gotten a couple of requests to show you how I deep clean my brushes.  I do this on a weekly basis and go through dozens of brushes.  Reason being is that I do this after every client to make sure my brushes are nice and sanitary.  I've perfected the way I do it in order to save time and get the job done.  I needed to clean a set of brushes anyways, so decided to film it at the same time.

Hi Bellas,

I'm really excited to do this review for you all.  This product applies both to makeup artists and personal makeup users.  How to sanitize your makeup.

I find myself to be a bit of a germaphobe when it comes to my kit and applying makeup on others.  I use palettes and spatulas for all my cream products.  I never double dip my disposable applicators and I use alcohol with a vengeance.  However, I always found it difficult to sanitize my powder products.

With powder products, bacteria usually doesn't penetrate beneath the top surface of the makeup.  Never spray powder products with alcohol. This will ruin the surface of the shadow by producing a hard, cakey layer that will be difficult to scrape off.  That means, all you have to do is take a tissue and wipe off the top layer of the product in order to sanitize it.   However, when you have dozens of palettes with eyeshadows, blushes and the works...it's hard to get to sanitizing everything.  It gets messy and you go through a lot of tissues...get a lot of makeup dust fall-out and it's overall a mess.  This is me speaking from experience.

In the last year, I heard about the Beauty So Clean products.  It's a spray or wipe that combines sanitizing agents with emollients in order to disinfect your makeup without messing up the surface.  I was so excited to try this out!  I actually purchased the Pro Size Sanitizing Mist and a Travel Size one for my kit.

I have extremely sensitive skin and I'm prone to eye infections and lip irritations.  Those of you who have the same problems or who experience acne breakouts from makeup should pay close attention to this product.  Cleaning your makeup brushes does not ensure that your makeup is clean.  Bacteria transfer from our face to the brush and the makeup...as well as oils from our fingers.  Sneezing and coughing can also infect your makeup.
