Jemma Kidd Everyday Glam Tutorial & Giveaway

Hi Bellas,

As you all now, I had the opportunity to test out Jemma Kidd Products.  I initially showed them to you all in my Opening the Box Video.  Jemma Kidd has three lines available:  JK Makeup School, JK Pro, and JK Jemma Kidd for Target.  I've had a few weeks to play with products from all three lines and I'm ready to give review these products and give you a tutorial as well.  To me, the products speak effortless beauty.  The colors I received are perfect for everyday makeup for school or work.

For those without video viewing capability, I also offer a written review on each product:

JK Makeup School:  Tailored Blush Duo in 02/Rose Gold
All of the JK Makeup School and Pro products have super nice packaging.  The outside container has a rubbery, velvet finish similar to NARS.  Each compact has either Cheek or Face written on it to tell you what product it is.  As for this blush, it is very pigmented and smooth.  I love how you get a blush on one side and shimmer on the other.  This provides more options - a pure blush, a pure highlight, or a combo of both.  The compact is a nice size and you get a big mirror to boot.

JK Makeup School:  Bronze Perfection Natural Skin
As soon as I swatched this bronzer, I knew it was love.  It's a breath of fresh air from all the super shimmery bronzers out there.  This product has a matte finish which is great for contouring - you don't have to worry about excess shimmer.  The color is a warm brown that is very wearable.  This is one of my top products that i've reviewed from the line.

JK Makeup School:  Lip & Cheek Stain
In the past, I was never a huge fan of cheek stains but this product totally changed my mind. This liquid cheek stain comes in a roller ball tube applicator. I roll this directly onto my cheeks on top of the tinted moisturizer and rub it in with my fingers.  With liquid or cream products I recommend applying it directly to foundation because it applies a lot easier.  This stain leaves a super beautiful, naturally rosey glow.  It lasted throughout the day and if you set it with blush, even better.  Unfortunately I don't see this one on the website any longer but I definitely recommend.
JK Makeup School:  Dewy Glow All Over Radiance Creme
This might be my favorite product of all the ones I tried.  This serves as an all over radiance creme that you can apply pretty much everywhere.  I'm keeping this one for my personal kit, so I just use my fingers to apply. You can also use a synthetic brush or sponge.  The finish is really natural and does truly offer a dewy glow as the product name states.  The finish reminds me of MAC's Shell Cream Color Base but you get a whole lot more product.

I used this product for my Ru Paul's Race Bridal drag look.  I popped it onto my cheekbones, browbone, the center of my bottom lip and above my cupid's bow.

JK Makeup School:  Vintage Glam Palette
This palette gives you everything you need to create a romantic, easy glamour kind of look.  The colors are very neutral and flattering for most skin tones.  Keep in mind that the cream blush is a little on the light side so it might not work for darker skin tones.  It comes with a powder, cream blush, cream shadow, a gloss and two brown eyeshadows.  The packaging is really nice...sleek and compact with an embossed design.  In the tutorial, I create a look using this palette.  The Vintage Glam Palette is perfect for neutral lovers.

JK Makeup School:  Colour Match Concealer Duo in 03 Medium
As soon as I opened this duo, I knew that I would like it.  The colors - a yellow and a more tan shade, really suit my skin tone.  The consistency is creamy, but not too much so that the product moves...thumbs up!  I use the yellow to highlight under my eyes in a triangle shape and then the brown side to spot treat.  This is definitely staying in the purse :)

JK Pro:  Pro Pointed Cream Blush/Foundation
First off, let me point out that I love the hot pink ferrule on this brush.  As for the synthetic bristles, they are very densely packed and form a really nice, tapered dome shape.  After a few tries, I found that this brush is perfect for concealing undereye circles.  The shape fits nicely under the eye and makes application super quick.  I've also used it to spread out the JK Cheek Stain.

JK Pro:  Powder Brush
At first sight, this brush had the same dense bristles and nice cut.  After my first wash, I noticed that it shed a few bristles.  This is normal for most brushes so I didn't think much of it.  I used it a couple of times and it still left bristles on my face.  I tried washing it again, but still the same thing and it seemed to get rougher over time.  I notice that this brush is no longer available on the web site so maybe they're reformulating the design.

JK Jemma Kidd:  Pro Finish Moisture Tint in 02/Mid
First off, the packaging itself is really nice.  This is part of their Target line and I was excited to test it because my US viewers would have easy access to this product.  I'm a huge fan of tinted moisturizers and this one also has SPF20, yay!  The product comes in a squeezy tube with a convenient pump.  Unfortunately, the color was a little too light on me...I should have gone up to 03 mid-dark which is the darkest shade.  I ended up giving this to a friend who is more fair.  There is a small color selection on this product so the darker skin tones are out of luck.  The consistency was alright, not as easy to blend as I would like but it did the job.  I've used other tinted moisturizers that I've liked better...but then again, this is a drugstore line so I don't expect the quality to be quite up par to the department store brands I've used.
JK Jemma Kidd:  Cheek ID Colour Adapt Blush
This is another one of the Target line products.  I'm familiar with this kind of product after owning Smashbox's O-Glow.  I don't use my O-Glow at all, so I wasn't sure how I'd react to this.  I tried it and suprisingly, it's really pretty on.  It's a bit thick so I recommend using it on top of wet base like moisturizer or foundation and blending in with fingers...then setting with powder.  This would be awesome combined with blush to get your cheek color to last throughout the day.
JK Jemma Kidd:  Ultra Plush Volumizing Mascara in 02 Show Brown
I received this mascara in brown which honestly I don't use much except for in my kit for fairer clients.  However, I gave it a go and it applied like a pretty standard volumizing mascara.  It didn't clump and has a nice formula.

Final Thoughts
In sum, Jemma Kidd has some really nice products from all her lines.  Both packaging and utility are really great and they have some innovative products which were a breath of fresh air.  The only limitation that I see is that some of her products come in limited shades that don't go that dark (light, medium and dark for the most part) which leaves our brown skinned beauties hoping that she comes out with an extended color range :)
