Sigma Makeup Friday Giveaways! Beauty on the Go Kit Neutral Shades

i Bellas,

I'm excited to announce the return of Sigma Makeup Friday Giveaways. I was fortunate enough to try out Sigma's new makeup line. Every Friday I'll review a new Beauty on the Go Kit as well as some other items. Not only will I review them, but I'll give you a tutorial on how to use them in a look, and give you a chance to win.

Check out my video review and tutorial!

Today I'll be reviewing the Sigma Makeup Beauty on the Go Kit - Neutral Shades.  This is great kit to start off with since everyone can rock neutral colors.    Once again, Sigma does not fail in the packaging department.  The kit comes in a super cute bright box and they even individually package the shadows and empty quad.

Here's a shot of the empty quad.  You can either use the shadows individually housed in their own compact, or you can transfer them to this convenient palette.  The shadows are not magnetized, they simply pop in and out.  Sometimes I found that the shadows would pop out halfway if I wasn't careful when holding it.  Try not to put pressure on the back of the quad...just hold it on the sides to prevent this.

The quad itself has a huge mirror that I often use for applying makeup. The square shape actually reminds me of Bobbi Brown palette packaging. Mind you, the quad and eyeshadow casing is shiny so it does show finger prints.

Here's a shot of the individual eyeshadows.  It's nice to have a large square eyeshadow pan.  We're all used to the small round pans from MAC and these are huge in comparison.  There is an interesting bubble pattern on top of the shadows which pretty much disappears once you dip your brush into them.  Unlike most individual shadow compacts, this one comes with a mirror - nice touch.  I probably would ditch the sponge applicator though.

Here is a swatch of the shades.  As you can see, they all have a high shimmer factor with no mattes in the collection.  The shadows itself are very soft so be careful with fallout and crumbling.  A lot of the shadows look different swatched than they do in the pan.  As you can see, they almost have a duo chrome finish to them...a nice surprise actually.

My Thoughts
I'm honestly more of a matte eyeshadow type of girl.  It took a lot of getting used to in applying these shadows.  The colors itself are very pretty but don't photograph as nicely as mattes because of the high shimmer factor.  On the other hand, since they are soft shimmer shadows, they're super easy to blend and apply.  The pigmentation is really good for these shadows.  However, I'd still use a creamy base so that they stick to the eye.  Next time, I really really hope they come out with some matte shadows.  Meanwhile, I'll just combine these colors with mattes in my collection.
