Hi Bellas,

I'm going to say it now...if you're not wearing eye cream right now, start today!  I personally know it's made a huge difference in my skincare routine.  I'm almost 34 years old and have very few fine lines around my eyes.  I'm all about preventative care and my newest addition to my foundation of youth recipe is IT Cosmetics Confidence in an Eye Cream.  Check it out!

Update on MAC DSquared Collection:
FYI, yesterday I went to MAC and was able to pick up a few items from the DSquared Collection. I picked up the blue and violet greasepaint sticks as well as two of the Feline Kohl Pencils (I love these limited edition pencils!). I also went back and picked up Blue Flame Mineralized Eyeshadow and Baby Goth Girl Nailpolish from the Style Black collection...luckily I was able to snatch the second to last ones! I wore the Dsquared blue greasepaint stick as a look last night on top of my Steelo Base and it didn't smudge at all. I'll post pics soon!

Makeup Lessons
Meanwhile, the other week I had a chance to have makeup lessons with one of my YouTube viewers. I offer this service to others so that they can utilize the items in their own makeup bag and learn the basic steps of makeup. That way, they can go home and practice and master makeup on their own. I also offer this service to aspiring makeup artists who are trying to learn the ins and outs of the business.

My client today was absolutely gorgeous. She didn't need a lot of makeup but she did want help concealing her undereye circles. She actually had some good products in her kit...MAC orange corrector and Amazing Cosmetics concealer. I asked her to apply the product and then I showed her my method. If you really want to cover those undereye circles, it's important to follow these simple steps.

Steps to Concealing Dark Circles
1) Moisturize with eye cream to prep the skin (night and day)
2) Pat on orange/peach based corrector using a sythentic concealer brush. Use only a little product, but make sure to really tap on top of the darkest area, being careful not to lift up any product.
3) Pat a concealer a bit lighter than your own skin tone on top of the corrector. Use the same patting motion. If you need to, you can use your fingers to help blend...the heat from your fingers will warm up the product and help it sink into the skin. However, be careful not to remove any of the product. If you want, you can mix a bit of luminzer with the concealer like MAC's strobe cream to give the area a light reflecting look.
4) Set the undereye area with a light powder to make sure it stays all day.

We used my client's exact same products and were able to work wonders. Sometimes it's all about technique.

In terms of the rest of the makeup, my client actually mainly stuck to concealing undereye circles and maybe a little bit of mascara. Eyeshadow was new to her and she wanted to stick to a neutral look that she could still wear for the evening.

I showed her how to create a basic bronze smokey eye. Here are the steps:
1) Apply eye base to the entire lid, from lashline to browbone.
2) Apply your color of choice to the inner half of the lid, staying under the crease.
3) Apply a darker color to the outer half of the lid, staying under the crease. Make sure to keep the outer V shape.
4) Take a lighter color and place it on the brow bone to highlight the eye.
5) Apply black liner to top and bottom, and smudge it with a pencil brush that has a bit of black shadow on it to create a smokey effect. By smoking out the line, you don't have to worry about having a perfectly straight liner application.
6) Apply mascara and that's it!



She looks gorgeous! I applied makeup to one side of her face and she did the other...she did a great job.

Lately I've been getting a lot of questions about concealing undereye circles. This is something that took me a little while to master; like many I hated that dreaded gray, ashy look that still remained after concealing. You've seen many of my before and afters where dark circles can simply erase with the right products and application. I did a concealing video about a year ago but the quality and process wasn't that great.

This is my own personal concealing process. Take a look!



Eye cream is important for prepping your eye. This will moisturize the delicate skin to prevent a dried out look. This also helps prevent puffiness and help to lessen darkness over time. I like MAC's Fast Response cream since it has a silicone type feel. It helps to fill in fine lines and wrinkles in the skin so that concealer sits on top.



The key to erasing dark circles is a corrector. Many of you can use an NW shade from MAC since it has those peachy undertones. For fair skin - go with something pink, for medium skin - peach/salmon, for darker skin - orange. This color works to cancel out blue/green/purple in the skin. Pat it (don't swipe) on sparingly, concentrating it on the darkest areas. Use a synthetic brush or your finger to blend out the edges. I use Bobbi Brown corrector in dark peach. Other great correctors include NW shades of concealer from MAC, MUFE correctors, and MAC studio finish color correctors. Take into account that cream offers the most coverage.


For some, this may be optional. A concealer 2-3 shades lighter than your skin tone finishes off the concealing process. It helps to lighten and brighten the undereye area, giving the illusion of a wide awake look. It also helps to cancel any remnants of the orange toned corrector. I use Bobbi Brown concealer in Beige.


Lastly, this is a step that many forget to do. If you find that your concealer doesn't last throughout the day, make sure you're setting it with powder. I go with a light, transparent powder from Camera Ready Cosmetics applied sparingly with a brush. The powder will set the product underneath. If you notice any lines forming at this point, the powder will also help to even it out.

Don't you love when you find a new use for an old product that sits in the back of your makeup drawer? That's what happened with my MAC electro lipstick and I'm thrilled! You might remember this bright orange lipstick when it was released with the Neo Sci Fi collection in the summer. It's definitely not an everyday color. I couldn't resist its originality back then and purchased it. Since that time I think i've worn it maybe two times. I think it's the ultimate makeup guilt when you buy something and hardly ever use it.


One day, I was browsing through fellow blogger Seymone's site and noticed that she was using the new MAC Color Studio Finish Corrector in Pure Orange as a concealer for undereye circles. This makes total sense since they always tell you to use warm, salmon colored concealers for dark circles. I've had this item on my list for a while...but haven't made the final leap to purchase it. Recently however, I was able to pick up Makeup Forevers Camouflage Concealer palette #5 which contains a similar shade.

Then one day, it was like a light bulb went off. I've been a little sleep deprived lately and my dark circles are worse than ever. I was covering it up with my normal concealer but you could still see the shadow underneath the eye. In my head I was wishing I had the orange corrector. As I sat on it, I remembered my Electro lipstick! (Yummy411 has a post on it too, she used a similar orange lipstick and it worked for her as well!)


I applied the lipstick directly under my eye and then put my concealer on top. I finished off with foundation and looked at the results. One side of my face had the regular concealer and foundation and the other had electro as well. The electro definitely made a difference.

I used the same trick on a Trash the Dress Shoot and it worked just as well!

Hi Bellas,

Just finished my first tutorial using my new and improved webcam and editing software...hopefully i'll be quicker with editing because it took me over 2 hours to edit, but maybe because I'm a perfectionist!

I used my roomie Melissa. She was just gorgeous :)

Hopefully you get some good tips from this. Let me know if you have any other ideas for videos. I have a red lip video coming up as soon as I edit that one.
