Hi Bellas,
Prom season is upon us, and as a Makeup Artist I wanted to share all the trends I've been seeing this year. I've had the chance to apply makeup for amazing themes like Arabian Nights and Nights in Dubai, both of which are inspiring the 2026 prom makeup looks. Let’s dive into these fun makeup trends.
1. Arabian Nights & Nights in Dubai Themes
This year we're embracing exotic vibes of Arabian Nights and the luxe look of Dubai. Think rich hues of jewel tones, gold accents, and mesmerizing designs that capture the essence of these dazzling places.
- Eye Makeup: The eyes feature vibrant jewel tone colors like deep emerald greens and royal purples, topped with shimmering golds and silvers. Don’t forget to include dramatic winged eyeliner for extra drama.
- Bold Highlights: Shine bright with highlighters that give you that radiant glow, reminiscent of the sparkling deserts and vibrant city lights of Dubai.
2. Return to 2016 Glam
Nostalgia is in, and that means we’re seeing a return to the glam styles of 2016! Heavy glam - smokey eyes and full coverage skin are in. Metallics, glitters, and rhinestones are also here to make a comeback.
- Metallic Eyes: Use metallic eyeshadows or liners to create a statement look. I love using a wet glitter shadow like the Danessa Myrick Colorfix foils for intensity.
- Rhinestone Accents: Rhinestones can also be strategically placed for that extra sparkle that catches the light beautifully. I apply a dot of clear lash glue to adhere the crystals onto the eyes, face or even hair. I recommend getting a rhinestone kit with a handy applicator to make application easy.
3. Lash Extensions Galore
Long, luxurious lashes are a staple for prom season! They instantly add drama to any eye look. I've noticed a lot of my clients coming in with lash extensions. As a Makeup Artist, it makes my job a little easier but I just have to be extra cautious to make sure not to damage the lash extensions. Just brush through them with a clean spoolie to keep them clean.
4. Minimal Blush & Nude Lips
I've noticed that a lot of my young clients lately have been wanting minimal blush. This actually makes sense if we're going bold on the eyes. Pair this with:
- Nude Lips: Soft nude lip colors are reigning supreme. Opt for shades that complement your skin tone—think peachy nudes or soft pinks. Definitely pair them with a contouring lip liner to add shape to the lips. And lastly, a gloss just in the middle helps to add shine and blend everything together.

Prom night is all about expressing yourself and enjoying the moment. It's been fun exploring this years trends as a Makeup Artist.
