Level Up Your Makeup Game: New Makeup Goals for 2024!

 Hi Bellas,

As we bid farewell to 2023, it's time to get ready for all the new opportunities for 2024. As your resident Pro Makeup Artist and Beauty Guru, I want to help you set some realistic and attainable beauty goals for 2024. Whether you're a makeup newbie or product junkie, here are some of my recommendations for the new year.

Master the Art of Skincare: Great makeup starts with great skin. Make skincare a top priority in 2024 by committing to a consistent and effective routine. Explore different products and techniques that cater to your specific skin concerns. It can be overwhelming. I recommend find a brand within your budget and stick with the products in that line because they're meant to pair together. Start with the basics - facial cleanser, moisturizer, exfoliator and sunscreen. Pick a line that goes with your skin type - are you dry, sensitive, acne prone, mature skin? This will help you make the right decisions. Some of my favorite lines that are pretty affordable are Inkey List (Sephora) and Mario Badescu (Ulta).

Embrace Bold Colors: Try to break out of your beauty comfort zone. Try a fun pop of color. You never know whether you like it unless you try it. That's how I felt about red lips - I thought I hated them until one day I gave them a shot and fell in love. If you're looking for a really good red, I recommend Bawse Lady from The Lip Bar - gorgeous! You can also try pairing a bright eyeliner with your neutral eyeshadows. My favorite liners are Urban Decay 24/7 Liner Pencils because they have so many shades, apply creamy on, but last all day. Makeup is meant to be fun. It wipes off at the end of the night so it's an easy way to accessorize your face.

Perfect Your Base: The biggest game changer I find with my makeup clients is finding the right foundation for them. I do think complexion products are the makeup items you might want to invest in. The key is to knowing your undertone and then your depth of shade. Next, what tool will you use - a brush, sponge, fingers? I offer personalized makeup shopping sessions for my clients in Atlanta and surrounding areas, and I can help you pick out your perfect match. Stay on Top of Trends: The beauty industry is constantly evolving, with new trends and techniques emerging each year. Make it a goal to stay informed about the latest makeup trends in 2024. At 40 years old, I try to age gracefully by keeping my makeup classic but paying attention to the trends that suit me. Follow influential makeup artists and beauty influencers on social media, read makeup blogs, and attend virtual or in-person makeup events to stay ahead of the curve. By keeping up with trends, you can discover new inspirations and incorporate them into your own unique style. Follow me on Instagram as I always share new product finds and looks!

Explore Sustainable Beauty: As we become more conscious of our impact on the environment, sustainable beauty practices are gaining momentum. In 2024, make a commitment to explore eco-friendly and cruelty-free makeup options. Opt for brands that prioritize sustainability, recyclable packaging, and ethical sourcing. By making mindful choices, you can contribute to a more environmentally friendly beauty industry. One easy way to help the environment is to toss out makeup remover wipes and invest in some reusable makeup remover pads - they're even better for your skin and save you money in the long run.

Remember, these makeup goals are meant to inspire and motivate you on your beauty journey in 2024. Whether you're a makeup enthusiast experimenting with new looks or a professional artist honing your skills, setting goals will help you push boundaries, refine your techniques, and unlock your full creative potential. Embrace the new year as an opportunity to grow, learn, and express yourself through the art of makeup.
