Prom Makeover: Katy Perry Inspired

Hi Bellas,

It's prom season and you know what that means, right? All the beautiful prom dresses begin making their appearance, but that's not all. It's time for another Prom Makeover! I had a chance to do some really fun glitter makeup for my client's junior prom. She was totally inspired by Katy Perry and we made it fun and totally teenage appropriate. Check it out!

My client had these gorgeous irridescent stones on her magenta dress.  My look centered around a similar glitter that was pearl with green and pink and purple reflects (unfortunately it's hard to photograph glitter but in person it was gorg).  We placed this glitter on top of a light silver eyeshadow.  I made the look a tiny bit smokey by placing a darker gray on the outer v.

I then lined on top and only halfway to the bottom to give her the smokey effect without closing in her eyes.  She also wanted lashes and I gave her some demi wispies from Qosmedix.  I loved how her eyes popped!

The skin was a little more challenging.  Her face was paler than her body because of a recent spray tan.  The body was more of a reddish tone and in the past she had commented how a MUA had made her too pale.  The key to matching spray tan is matching the face to the chest.

I used Makeup Forever HD Foundation in 153 (my shade crazy enough) and then highlighted the center with 117 in order to give light to her face so she wouldn't feel too dark.  She also requested highlight and contour and I gave her subtle shaping using MAC Sculpt & Shape Powders.

On her lips she told me she wanted the pale pink nude lips that all the celebrities are wearing.  I automatically knew that I should bust out my Viseart nude lipstick palette and I paired it with MAC Oak lip pencil.

She looked gorgeous!  More prom makeovers to come!
