Hi Bellas,

During my annual Christmas trip to visit the parents in O-town, I had to make my customary trek to the MAC Pro Store. I really prefer to buy in store than online because I need to swatch when I buy...and I always like having a MAC artist put his/her two cents in.

I filmed a video showing the haul with the new camera. Like I mentioned in yesterday's post, the quality got downgraded when we coverted the file from .mov to .avi. However, my BF was able to fix the quality a little bit for the Dame Edna tutorial video that I'm uploading tomorrow.

FYI, my computer crashed due to all this converting software downloading. As a result, a lot of pics are stuck on my computer until my BF can fix it. I have some of the pics from the MAC pro haul but a few are missing: i.e. the lashes and swatches of the sculpting/shaping powders.

Check out my video for the complete haul.

Sculpting and Shaping Powders
Definitely on my list was to check out the highlighting and contouring powders. I'm obsessed with sculpting and shaping the face! I got three shaping powders for highlighting: the top row shows three colors from left to right. I placed them in this order to show you that I would use it in order of skin tone: left is lightest, to right is the darkest. All three shades should be able to cover most tones for highlighting. For reference, I would use the color in the middle Accentuate.

I also picked up two more sculpting powders. I picked up bone beige because this is the best color for the palest skin tones. Shadowy is my new favorite contour powder! It has a brown/gray finish and looks so much better than the Shadester color I was using before.

Rule of thumb: When contouring, it's best to use a color that is opposite from your skin tone. For example, I have warm undertones, and thus I'll stick to cool contour shades in order to truly mimic the look of a shadow/contour.

DUO Lash Adhesive in Dark
I also picked up two tubes of Duo lash adhesive in dark...my HG lash adhesive. It's super cheap with the pro discount.

Chai Lipglass and Siss Lipstick
Thanks to the MAC artist, this is my newest nude lip combo! These colors look better than some of my other nude lippies (Fresh Brew and Fleshpot) and don't make me look all washed out. I think i'm going to try different combos of lipglasses and liners with the lipstick to give myself different options.

Color Correctors
MAC Color Corrector in green is a discontinued product but luckily the MAC artist dug out the last one for me. This color corrector in green is used to neutralize red in the skin. The consistency is like select cover up concealer, so you only need a small amount.

Check out my new eyebase! The Chromaline in Pure White is eyesafe, creaseproof and waterproof. What better eye shadow base than a white one to make colors really pop?

Studio Finish Color Correctors
More color correctors! Each one has it's own use. If you look at a color wheel, you can see that a color's opposite is the color it complements. When layered on top of each other, it is also the color that it neutralizes.

This is the color chart that I use:

Ochre/Yellow is opposite of purple: this would be great for concealing bruises or undereye circles.
Terracotta/Red: Used for neutralizing green. This is great for neutralizing the black/green ink in tattoos. Also great as an undereye neutralizer for very dark skin tones.
Burnt Coral/Orange: Great for bluish undereye circles. Burnt coral is great for women of color on the lighter end, and Caramel for those on the more tan end.

I forgot to pick up MAC's matte texture when I went to the Pro store, dope! Oh well, there's always next Christmas!

Stay tuned for tomorrow's video: MAC's Dame Edna tutorial! Till next time, Ciao Bellas!

Atlanta Makeup Artist

Hi Bellas,

So I was finally able to head down to the MAC Pro Store in Orlando over 4th of July Weekend. You all know I've been preparing for this trip, making lists for weeks! I prefer buying things in person over online so I can swatch and ask the MUA questions. Let's say I definitely stocked up, lol. I spent more than I wanted to...but that's not something I haven't said before when it comes to MAC, lol.

I tried to get only Pro items since I have a freestanding store that is two minutes away from me and the closest Pro store in 7 hours away. I had to film the video twice so I could try to get it in the time limit!

I've only posted swatches on my blog, not the video, so my blogging beauties get a little something extra!

While I was at the store, I was helped by a really great MA named Fawn. She was really knowledgeable and you know she was Asian too ;) She answered my gazillion questions and I learned a lot of new things from her.

My new brushes! The 174 pro brush and the brush that's about to be discontinued...sorry I can't remember the number and I'm writing this at work, lol.

My new 15 pan eyeshadow palette. From left to right, the pro eyeshadows: deep damson, cobalt, soot, rose, ground brown, lime.

Swatches of the eyeshadow. Swatched dry with no base. One swipe of the finger. These are the softest eyeshadows ever. I understand why they're pro eyeshadows because they're easier to blend than some of the other finishes. Left to right: deep damson, cobalt, soot, rose, ground brown, lime

Swatches of new pro blushes and sculpting powders. First three are blushes: housewine, burnt pepper, azalea. Last three are the sculpting powders: Sculpt, Shadester, and Definitive. I tried to get a range of sculpting powders to suit a variety of my clients. I use these all the time now! Definitive is an awesome color for darker skin tones. Sorry but I accidentally deleted the picture of the blush palette with everything in it, he he.

MAC pro lashes in #12, #8, #10. I got two of each since they don't sell these in the normal stores.

MAC Pro lipsticks: violetta, sin, lady danger. Behind them, you'll see the cream colour bases in black and white.

EZR eye zone remoisturizer (great as an eye cream as well as a glitter adhesive), Face and Body Mixing Medium (I use these to mix my foundations and make them budge proof...you can also use them with pigments for body painting), Water Based Mixing Medium (for foiling my pigments and eyeshadows), Multi-Purpose clear gloss

White gold pigment (great for highlighting right underneath your eyebrow arch). Reflects pearl glitter-the best multipurpose glitter, and invisible pro set powder. This is the only translucent powder that I've tried that doesn't give an ashy finish to some darker skin tones.

MAC cleansing tips--good for quick clean ups. Just take off the packaging and you have a pre-moistened makeup remover q-tip.

So check out my vid on all the goodies I got!

Hi Bellas,

So I decided to do a post to show you where my mind is at right now. There are a couple of things I’m really getting excited about in the next few weeks.

For one, June 24th is my birthday, woo hoo! I’m turning the big 25, quarter century baby! To me, this is a landmark birthday, finally marking the point where I’m for real an adult now, lol. I can rent cars without that nasty underage fee and get a break on my car insurance. It’s funny, because when I was little I always thought I would be married at 25. Boy, what was I smoking? LOL

So far, the only things planned for the big birthday are:
1) Getting my hair done, finally! The BF is going to pay for it as part of my gift. I want the whole shebang – cut, base dye, highlights, and blow out. I only get my hair done like 3 times a year so I have to do it all over each time. I’m trying to grow back my hair longer again. I miss it! I realized that I just don’t know how to manage and style shorter hair. It pretty much stays in my stumpy pony tail. Right now, it’s already at my shoulders, luckily it grows fast. Hopefully within the next two weeks you’ll see my new ‘do. When I get it done, I’m going to take professional head shots for the makeup by renren business.
2) Going to get my nails done, woo wee! LOL. I’ve totally slacked on this…I haven’t gotten my nails done since my birthday last year. Can you believe that? Before that, I was at the nail salon every month getting my spa pedicure and manicure. That was also before makeup came back into my life and sucked all my extra cash! This is going to be a present to myself. I’m thinking bright yellow nailpolish on my feet. Pursebuzz had it on one of her entries and it was too cute!
3) Fourth of July weekend—I’m going back home to Orlando and bringing the BF with me. Fortunately my parents are there, so we can save money on lodging and food. I already know my mom is going to throw down in the kitchen. My BF and I usually take trips together and we haven’t gone anywhere this year. He came home with me for Christmas but we were really only in Orlando for 2 days because I couldn’t get enough time off of work. This time will be better so I can show him more of my hometown.
4) Orlando MAC Pro store –Yall know that when I’m home I’ll definitely make a trip to the MAC Pro store in the Millenia mall. I already warned the boyfriend. Unfortunately I never really was into MAC like I am now back when I was living in home--so I missed out!

I already have my list:
-mixing medium – water based
-matte texture
-crème color bases- white and black (great for contouring darker skin tones), and we’ll see if any other bases catch my eye
-pro blush palette with pro blush colors—so far I’m eyesing azalea and apple red, I’ve heard good things about them on Specktra.
-15 pan pro palette with the following pro eyeshadows – ground brown, soot, symmetry, deep damson, cobalt, rose, plum, lime (last time I was there I think I got the rest of the pro shadows but these ones were out of stock)
-shadester and sculpt shaping powder in pro pan(to put in my kit), I’ll need to take a look at one more for darker skin tones…any recs?
-I’ll take a look at the lippies as well – any recs for the pro line?

I've been making lists on post-its everywhere trying to get ready for this trip, lol. If you guys who are lucky enough to be near Pro Stores have any further recommendations, holler at a sister!

Hello Bellas,

How was your night? I went to sleep late again…I think my boyfriend is a bad influence on me because he stays up sooo late. He just tells me that I should go to sleep because I can't hang with the big dawgs or something or other, lol. I’m supposed to be at work by 8:45 (which is more like 9:05-9:15) but go to sleep at 1:30am and always feel it the next day...that’s not good :(

Anywho, after reading Vanessa, Mrs. Lynne and everybody’s pages about all their drug store hauls I was really wishing there was a Walgreens or Duane Reade near me so I could finally get my hands on the HIP paints. Alas, my local CVS does not carry them. Also, the Milani blush that’s a dupe for NARS is definitely on my list.

I think I might go to Wal-mart during lunch today and pick up more work snacks and check out the cosmetics aisle ;)

Last night I did a really quick makeup look to one of my sorority events. I wore one of my neglected Mattene lipsticks in “All Grown Up”. I try to revisit some of my older products to make sure I at least use all of them a few times. I mean if we shell out so much cash on these items we've got to get our money's worth, right girls?

Just like friendship, you may meet new friends, but you can’t forget the faithful ones that have stuck by you through the years...well the same goes with makeup (good methaphor eh?). This lipstick is described as a deep chocolate brown and honestly, I’m not sure I can pull it off. I got it mainly because it was different and I didn’t have too many dark colors at the time. It shows up so dark that I need to use something underneath because it settles into the lines of my lip, giving me unsightly dark lines on my smackers-you know, the Angelina Jolie affliction?
Here's a pic from the MAC website:

I paired it with nothing else except my eyes lined top and bottom with Graphblack Technakohl liner. It was definitely a darker, more mature look...not really my typical bright eyes but I was happy that I expanded my makeup boundaries, lol. Sometimes you need to try different things! Sorry but I didn’t take a pic but you get a visual image right?

So this Thursday I’m planning on recreating the smokey pink eye and curly hair for a Valentines Day look. I’m doing it Thursday evening because that’s date night for my BF. I might of mentioned htis before, but we switch off each week picking a new restaurant neither of us has been to. It’s my week...usually we pick some form of ethnic food-any suggestions?

Like I mentioned before, I’m putting out less videos so I can have a few nights off each week. Last night I finished edited my Shiseido Mascara Base Review. I also got the go ahead/music approval from the BF on the “Hot Hepcat” look (he's the one who usually gives me my background music inspiration) as well as what I call my “Blue Bling Bling” look. Unfortunately Windows Media Maker is tempermental and lost all of my edited music clips I inserted in my Blue Bling Bling video. I was so mad that I took it out on the boyfriend :( If you’re reading this babe, I’m sorry! I went to bed all frustrated but I think in my random tossing and turning I looked over my shoulder and could’ve sworn I saw him redoing the music on my video for me. Gotta love him!

Anyhow, with those vids I should have enough material for you tube posting for the next week or two.

Meanwhile, here’s my “To do list” of viewer requests, tutorials, videos and looks:
• Warmed MSF as eyeshadow
• Burnt orange look
• Collection video
• Valentines Day look
• Curly hair tutorial
• Still have to do my funky eyelashes and drag queen look but those take a little more practice...

Don't forget to watch American Idol tonight! Well back to work so I can make money to pay off my makeup, he he. Ciao bellas!

Hi Bellas,

It's been a little while. Sorry about the lack of posts...I was in Orlando celebrating x-mas with the family and my BF came down with me. It was great...lots of food, eating, celebrating, and of course MAC galore!

I discovered that Orlando has a Pro store and that was on top of my list as one of the things I wanted to do in o-town. So I went on Sunday and got a bunch of pro colors as well as a few other items on my to buy list. However, one trip to the store wasn't enough, lol. I hurried back the next day, Christmas Eve, right before they closed and got another haul. I figured since I don't have a pro store around me I should get as many pro e/s colors as I could. Oh man, now I feel like I have too much. But I love the colors, I tried out a few so far. I tried to get most in palette pans but they were out of some so it looks like i'll be doing some major depotting this week! I really need to get organized and label the palettes on the inside with the name of the e/s colors.

Did I mention my new Web Cam sucks! Sighhhh I tried to do a video on a smokey eye and the thing just makes my motions too slow and delayed. So to compensate I'm doing pic tutorials. I had a pic video for a smokey purple eye (for Mrs. Lynne) but my labtop nearly died on me! Hopefully the BF can fix it and the video is saved because I haven't posted it on you tube yet :( so until then, i'll have to post at work :)

So here's my haul and my x-mas eyes I wore on Christmas Eve.

Here's some of the upcoming things to expect:
Purple smokey eye tutorial: already finished, hopefully I can salvage it and upload
Green eyes pic tutorial (photos already taken, just need to post)
Christmas eyes pic tutorial (photos already taken, just need to post)
Smokey eyes (I'm going to have to reshoot this one, sorry guys)
Christmas pics and presents!
New makeup organization system

Hope you enjoy!

Me at the pro store :)
