Hi Bellas!

On Thursday I checked out the MAC style black collection. I really liked it! Finally something different! I picked up quite a few items. The collection may seem a bit intimidating to some, but a lot of these colors are very wearable if you layer them with other products. And for those of you who have a flair for the dramatic, this is for you!

Check out my video haul and mini review!

Here are the swatches! I forgot to swatch Penultimate Liquid liner but it's a typical pen liquid liner that goes on black.

Out of the two black lipsticks, I picked up the creamsheen since I don't use my matteens very often. I didn't have a black lippie in my collection unless you count my OCC black lip tar. You can wear this as a base for another lipstick to give intense color or even go for a goth halloween look. Not a must have though.

I love when MAC comes out with new products like this Greasepaint stick. It's a lot of fun to work with...it's like a shadestick but a lot more intense. I like the color on this one, it's a deep purple with like shimmer. Use this under the mineral eyeshadows for a pop of color.

Out of the glimmerglasses I picked up 2 of the 3. The one on the left, Blackware, would look super chic over a plum colored lipstick to dress it up a bit. The one on the right looks amazing over a red lipstick. Check out my video to see what it looks like. On their own they just look like a gray gloss so these are better paired over another product.

These Mineralized Eyeshadows were a pleasant surprise in the collection. They are intensely pigmented and give an intense glitter effect. I kind of want to go back for the other 2 colors I didn't get!

Cream colour bases can be used in many ways. If you use this as an eye base, make sure to wear another base underneath because these do oil up.

The final look! This is my RockStar smudgy, messy look...it's supposed to be the "I don't care cuz I'm cool look, lol". It's a pretty effortless look that takes 10 minutes to do for the entire face. FYI, I wore this look the entire day and noticed that the greasepaint stick does smear on its own...so it's best to wear a base with it.

Hey Hotties,

So as you know, yesterday I went during my lunch break to my local M.A.C freestanding store to pick up the Cool Heat collection. I usually go during lunch during the day of the release to make sure I can get my hands on the goodies. For the Neo-Sci Fi collection I wasn’t on the ball and went a few days later...lol...which might not seem like a big deal but to me I felt like a slacker. I definitely feel a responsibility to my blogging and youtube community to get my videos and reviews out on new M.A.C collections asap. With that said...I was really good...I got home last night and filmed my video, edited it, and uploaded to youtube. Woo hoo!

Here’s the video...I didn’t have time to take pictures of swatches but my girl Nessa has some great pics on her site, check her out!

A few thoughts on the collection...

I love all the eyeshadows...I mean all of them! Some are higher on the list than others, but I can see myself using all of them. I’ll definitely be rocking the teal eye look for the next couple of weeks!

Here’s my breakdown of each color:

Warm Chill: A soft aqua color-comes off sheer but when you build the layers, it looks awesome with the other teals. In the video, I got confused and didn’t mention it, but this is what I was actually wearing on my inner third of the lid.

Climate Blue: Beautiful color! It’s a rich, purplish blue color...more purple than blue...and it has little violet shimmers in it. It’s definitely a color not easily duped. Others have mentioned it to be chalky. I haven’t really noticed a problem so far.

Cool Heat: This is a color I wanted from the very beginning. It’s a vibrant teal...kind of like Big T. So gorgeous, love it!

Warming Trend: Gorgeous neutral color. A shimmery light brown. Great for all over lid/summer color. It’s definitely one of those colors that’s a good basic for anybody’s collection. To me it just screams bridal makeup.

Solar White: This looks whitish pink in the pot, but swatches to a pretty goldish cream color. This would make a great highlight, tear duct, or lid color. It’s a better ricepaper in my opinion.

Blue Flame: Like I mentioned in the vid, this is Deep Truth’s fraternal twin. If you have deep truth you probably don’t need it. I just got caught up in the excitement! I think Deep Truth is a little darker with more shimmer where Blue Flame is a bit brighter in color with subdued shimmer.

Gulf Stream: If you love teal, you must get this! It looks great on it’s own, and probably even better with a base. This seems like a sell-out color.

I also picked up a few slimshines:

Gentle Simmer: My fav lip product right. It looks like I’m wearing a frosty lipgloss but it’s just the slimshine on it’s own. To me, this is a plus because sticky lipglasses are not fun in the summer. I'm also going through this dry, sensitive lip stage and slimshines are perfect for both color and moisture.

Tropic Glow: This reminds me of a Barbie pink but a bit more sheered out. I’m not sure about this one...I’ll try it with a bit of lipliner underneath and see how it goes.

High 90’s: This once surprised me. It’s more pigmented than the others. A vibrant coral color...Honestly, I just like anything that is bright so I grabbed it. I probably should have tried it on first, oh well! I’ll try a lipliner with this too because on it’s own it doesn’t look right on my skin tone. Oh, and definitely pair it with a chapstick as a primer, cuz it showed all my lip ruffness and lines, lol, ewwww.

Other random items...
While I was there I also picked up refills of Brush Cleanser, Fix +, and for the first time cleanse off oil. I had read good things about it and I tried it for the first time last night. I love it! It’s not a thick oil like I thought it would be. It’s kinda a watery, clear consistency but when you put it on your face it suds and took everything off, including mascara. That’s more than I can say about my MAC wipes. It was a little messy though, but it does the job. I’ll probably do a more thorough review on that later.

By the way, yesterday I went to this event here in Atlanta called the Celebrity Style Lounge. You pay an entry fee and it’s in the ballroom of a fab hotel. You get free cocktails and they have all these vendors catering to women-fashion, shoes, beauty, massages, and candy! Let’s say I picked up an awesome, drool-worthy brush set from a-design. It’s originally $250, but I got it for $100, it was a steal! I’ll do a review after I’ve washed and tried it out separately. I’m so excited to go home and try them out. Here’s a sneak peak at one of the brushes in the set...isn’t it gorgeous? It’s the pointed head foundation brush, alone it retails for $32!

Till next time, ciao bellas!

Hey Bellas,

Well I'm currently at work...of course I had to stop by my MAC freestanding store today to pick up Cool Heat. Oh my gosh, I loveeeeeeee the eyeshadows. Talk about gizorgeous!

This isn't my full entry, but I couldn't resist on telling you how much I love this new collection. It's definitely my fav of the last few collections...including Neo Sci-Fi, Naughty Nauticals, Fafi...

If you like bright blues and teals, this is the one for you. I got to work and even put on eyeshadows with my fingers while sitting at my desk, lol...I was just that excited!

I even ran into one of my youtube subscribers at the MAC store, how cool was that! That was my first time :) I think I was more excited than she...she said she recognized my voice, ha ha.

Well....back to work...I'll probably film my haul video tonight and look video tomorrow...stay tuned!

Hi Bellas,

How was your weekend? Hopefully it's not too cold out there in your neck of the woods. I have a few new updates. For one, my laptop is finally fixed, woo hoo! Thankfully my BF is a whiz with computers because I was not looking forward to 1) telling my dad my computer died and having him tell me again how I always break things and 2) paying someone to fix my computer that is only 1 year old. This means that I will be more able to post videos, pics, and blog entries.

I also did a bit of depotting this weekend...the fumes of the burnt plastic were starting to get to me...but I have enough for another Back to MAC product, yay!

I've also been rocking the N Collection these past few days. I really like this nude look...i've been getting quite a few compliments on it...that's a good thing right ;)

So these next few months are going to be busy busy busy! For one, I have a lot of events coming up with my sorority that will have my weekends occupied for the new few months. Let me just clarify, i'm no longer in college...I graduated in 2005 but I'm the Chapter Advisor of my undergrad chapter in case you were wondering. I also have quite a few weddings and baby showers I need to attend...it's getting to that time in life ladies! Speaking of which, I can't wait to see 27 dreses :)

I'm also going to be taking a trip in February to Cali, woo hoo! I'm visiting my brother in San Francisco. My parents are also flying in from Orlando and we'll be driving around trying to see different relatives and what not. I can't wait! It's been a while since i've really been to California. Even better since my parents are going so I can eat and sleep for free, ha ha. Maybe I can get to a pro store, cross your fingers! Who knows...I might even run into some of my lovely beauty bloggers ;)

As far as other things I'm looking forward to:
1) Fafi for MAC - 2/13/08, you bet your bottom dollar I'll be all over this new collection! Honestly, the packaging alone makes me drool. However, be aware of all the repromotes in this line...I think i'll focus on the lipsticks/lipglasses/eyeshadow quads/paint pots. A lot of the other items seem like repeats. Oh and myabe a Fafinette bag...we'll see! I have a month to save up, so no more MAC until then! Unless that is...i'm returning for Back to MAC but even then that might be a little too much temptation.

2)Heatherette - 3/27/08. After Fafi i'll have another month and a half to save...keep me on track guys! I can't wait for the hot pink packaging :)

There are a few other collections to look out for (courtesy of Janice from Specktra)
-2/7/08 Slimshine of 7 new colors with 13 being repromoted from the original release of 20 shades...
-2/13/08 Same day as Fafi MAC is releasing their Mineralie Foundation SPF 15 Loose. This should be interesting for all you mineral makeup wearers out there. This may be better for the warmer months ahead. So far I haven't fallen in love with any of the mineralized makeup samples I've ordered. We'll see about this one.
-Strobe - 3/6/08
Strobe Liquid, Strobe Lip Conditioner, 4 Different shades of Tinted Lip Conditioners
-Beauty Powder Blush - 3/13/08
A micronized powder blush with a subtle pearlize pigment, 8 new shades and 2 repromoted brushes.
-Studio Moisture Tint SPF 15 - 4/3/08
-Dazzleglass - 5/1/08
-Skinsheen - 5/1/08

In between now and the Fafi collection I have some new ideas for videos and posts...I'm waiting on my train case and flat topped pink brush from Camelia-Rose as well, it should be here any day now, woo hoo!
Here's what to look for:
1) collection video
2) smokey green eye and magenta lip
3) 5 min day makeup
4) 5 min day to night makeup
5) drag makeup
6) blue eyeshadow look
and much much more!

On a more serious note:

Please take a moment to read…I need your help. My boyfriend’s younger sister Victoria, she’s 22 years old, collapsed on Christmas Day at work…she had a seizure and hit her head during the fall. Following this, her brain was without oxygen for a total of 12 minutes. She was rushed to the hospital and has been in a coma ever since. Victoria has still not awoken…we’ve been positive, praying everyday, waiting for her to wake up…but recently she has hit a bump in the road. A few days ago, the doctors attempted to perform a tracheotomy, moving the breathing tube from her mouth to an opening in her neck…that way she could more easily speak when she awoke. However, the tube was inserted incorrectly, causing her lung to collapse, speeding her heart rate and sending her into a high temperature. Since last night her heart rate has been at 190…almost like running a marathon. If you pray to a higher power, please place Victoria in your prayers. My boyfriend Mike has asked me to send this out to my friends because we do believe in the power of prayer and positive energy…thanks again, I’ll keep you guys updated.

Hi Bellas,

Soooooo...I had to do it. Even though I promised myself I wouldn't go to MAC till after x-mas I had to go for the originals collection...sighhhh. I told my co-worker I was just going to go get an e/s (Parrot) but came back with that plus seven other things, lol. I just can't control myself in the MAC store as many of you can relate I'm sure. So I got Parrot b/c everyone has raved about it. I think it's pretty...similar to aquadisiac but a little darker. I asked the MA about a shadow she thought would look good with it so we picked Prussian from the Matte2 collection. Then of course I had to get a highlight color...shroom, since it's such a must-have basic and you know what...while I'm there, I wanted to get a paint...I've never used them as a base before, so I got sublime nature since it was a matte paint that was closest to my skin tone. And I threw in Embark because that's been on my list for a while. And while I was there...I was like you know I kind of want a sheer plum looking lipstick. I'm really trying to expand beyond just lipgloss and get some real pigmented color on my lips. We couldn't really find any but I ended up with this sheer mauve color and a plum liner that makes it look a lil more plum in person. At first I wasn't sure about the lips, but it grew on me. The lipstick is actually very sheer and picks up on my natural dark pink lip color.

So on top of that, I was like hey, might as well pick up Fix +! I had it on my x-mas list and was trying to hold out so hopefully nobody got that for me. It's my first time using a product like this and it's pretty nice and refreshing. I spritzed some on the low low once I got to my desk at work and it made my complexion fresh and dewy. So that's it, I swear, until Sculpt & Shape comes out and until I visit the MAC pro store when I got home to Orlando this weekend. Did I mention my BF is coming home with me for the first time, exciting!!!

Every Thursday my BF and I have a tradition where we try a new restaurant every week, and we rotate picking it. It's kind of like our date night, he he. So I threw a look together before going out. It actually only took me about 10 minutes to do everything, from foundation to e/s to lips. That was pretty good considering the colors were kind of new to me. I used some of the new products I bought.

So I got a couple of looks I'm going to be doing looks/tutorials on: Smokey eye from holiday lip video, Bright Fuscia eyes, and Purples (I suck at purple but i'll try), please keep the suggestions coming! If you want me to review something too, let me know! Oh, and my 1 week old web cam is having major technical difficulties, the audio won't record! I was going to do a Tut on this look but to no avail :( I'm going to try and exchange it today for a new one and hopefully get a video in before I leave tomorrow for Orlando.
