Hi Guys,

A few months ago, I mentioned some items that have been life savers for my kit in this crazy summer weather.  I got so many requests to demo the products that today that I have created an entire video and post to a Summerproof/Budgeproof/Waterproof Makeup tutorial for you today.  Enjoy!

Hi Bellas,

I recently had the opportunity to try out a new mascara - L'Oreal Extra Volume Collagen Mascara. When I first saw the product, I liked its sleeked packaging and clean look. Then, when I took out the brush I was impressed by its huge bristles. I thought that this mascara might have potential.

I turned to my good friend/guest reviewer Melissa for help. She's an avid mascara user where as I only use it when I do makeup on weekends. Check out her review!

pros:
- it definitely volumizes eyelashes
- it also lengthens them
- it gives a thick and full eyelash look
- it does not smudge or smear even after working out - cardio and sweating
- easy to take off with make up remover
- handle is easy to hold
- i like the sleek, shiny look of the tube

cons:
- it gets a bit clumpy on the wand after 4-5 uses. However, when I took off the excess with a tissue, the mascara glided on my eyelashes much easier.
- since the mascara is somewhat thick, I am thinking maybe because of the collagen content, you have to be meticulous when applying or it will clump up a little. You have to consciously use the wand so that it goes across the eyelashes evenly. But once you do that, it looks great!
Take a look at the before and after. The eye on the left has mascara and the eye on the right does not. Click on the pics to expand.
Here she is with mascara on both eyes, look at those lashes! Even in person I could tell she had longer, more fuller lashes than usual.
Check it out in the cosmetics aisle of your local drugstore. Till next time, Ciao Bellas!

Hi Bellas,

I'm always a fan of finding affordable, yet high quality cosmetics. I recently had the opportunity to try out two from Max Factor. Check out my two part review!

As many of you may or may not know, Max Factor was the first real makeup artist to develop products for the everyday woman. He mixed the old school grease paints to concoct easy to apply formulas of foundation, lipstick, blush and more. He's definitely a Father of the Makeup World...I'm glad his line is still around to pay homage to him.

I used to use Max Factor panstick foundation back in the day (Great for drag makeup by the way), but haven't really used it too much since.
I'm always in search of an inexpensive, yet high quality lipstick to add to my personal collection and kit. I came across the Max Factor Vivid Impact Lipcolor and decided to give it a shot.

I tried out the color in shade 028. After applying it I was surprised at how super moisturizing it is...after looking at the ingredients I saw why...Shea Butter! This magical ingredient makes such a difference. It even felt more moisturizing than MAC slimshines. The Shea butter also acts like a lip balm so it seals in the moisture making the lipstick have the longevity of a long-wear product...Nice!

The only thing is that I didn't like the way the color I had looked on my lips. There's nothing wrong with the product itself, but I had the wrong color for my lips and skin tone. After pondering over this for a bit, I decided to give it another go. I added a more vibrant lip pencil and voila! Problem solved!

Max Factor 2000 Calorie Review
For this one, I asked the help of my good friend Melissa. She's always in search of a new, bigger and better mascara. I've been wearing my glasses for the last month straight so I thought she'd be a better test subject. I gave her some simple guidelines for her test. Here are her results:

Application process...easy to use?
It was easy. the mascara went on smoothly. there was minimal "gunk" or extra mascara on the brush.

Brush Type...too big, too small...easy to use?
The brush size was easy to hold and comfortable. I liked how you could put the bottle in an upright position when you put it down while you are applying. I like to think it might be more hygenic to have it standing upright so the opening of the bottle is as far as possible from the table or bathroom sink.

Easy to remove?
It was easy to remove with makeup remover and just washing your face in the shower.

Pros
Went on smoothly, glided on my eyelashes, separated and elongated my eyelashes. no gunk or clumping together.
Cons
It does volumize a bit, but perhaps my personal preference is for more volume.

Would you buy again?
Yes! My fav thus far for mascaras in this price range!

Check out a picture of Melissa using this mascara. It looks pretty clump free. She has naturally long lashes, lucky girl. But I can see how she would want a little more volume.

You can find these products at any local drugstore. Till next time, Ciao Bellas!

Hi Bellas!

It seems like Maybelline's new Last Stiletto Mascara is everywhere these days. From TV to the blog scene...I was fortunate to get my hands on it.

I'll make this review short and sweet because I know some of you are already familar with this product. My lashes are super short, straight and sparse so this mascara needs to work wonders!

The concept of this mascara is really cute...shaped like the end of a stiletto.

The brush is tiny with very spiky bristles to catch the lashes.

Check out the before and after. My non-existent lashes to added length.

Here is a another close-up. I used Lash Stiletto with a volumizing mascara in familiar bright orange tube and whoa, I quadrupled my lashes. They could use a comb through to separate the lashes but what a huge difference right?

PROS
-cute packaging
-definitely lengthens
-dark black formula
-inexpensive - under $10 and available at most drugstores
-small brush to catch tiny lashes/lower eyelashes

CONS
-does not volumize
-does not have a patent black finish like the product suggests

SUMMARY
To get the best results, pair this with a volumizing mascara and your problems are solved!

Atlanta Makeup Artist

Hi Bellas,

I was given a chance to try out L'Oreal's newest mascara. Just a little background info on myself, I have teeny stick straight lashes so I need a super duper potent mascara that volumizes and lengthens.

L'Oreal's Double Extend mascara offers a primer on one end and a mascara on the other.

Pro
-Offers both primer and mascara
-Doesn't clump
-Came off easy with my Mandom remover
-Available at most drugstores

Cons
-The tube was too chunky for me to handle
-Did nothing for me in terms of volumizing and lengthening. If this mascara claimed it was for natural looking lashes I woud say it did it's job, but it didn't...it said it would lengthen by 80%. Yah right!
-Pricey for a drugstore mascara
-Mascara smears

My final verdict? Skip!

There are better versions out there for around the same price. I'll probably still use this to blend in falsies with my real lashes but not on it's own.

Till next time, Ciao Bellas!
