Hi Bellas,

Transforming your space into the ultimate makeup room can enhance your beauty routine and allow your creativity to flourish. I've created many makeup spaces over the years, both in my personal home as well as my professional makeup studio so I've gathered my tips and tricks along the way. Whether you’re a makeup artist or simply passionate about beauty, here are essential tips to create an ideal getting ready area.

This Makeup Vanity is a great all in one solution - it has everything you need.  There's plenty of storage, built in mirror and lighting and tuck a way seating.  If you want to break it down piece by piece here are my recommendations in the post.

1. Smart Storage Solutions

Storage is crucial for maintaining an organized makeup area.

  • Drawers and Sorters: Invest in units with lots of drawers to sort your makeup. Keep your most-used products at the top for easy access and store extras or out-of-season shades in the lower drawers, keeping them hidden and organized.

  • Desktop Space: Make sure you have ample desktop space to lay out your daily-use items. A clear workspace encourages creativity and efficiency.  Choose a desktop material that is wipeable and easy to clean. Makeup can be messy, and having a surface that you can maintain effortlessly will save you time and hassle.  I always have Clorox Wipes on hand to clean up quick messes

I love these Makeup Drawers.  You can sort your items according to use - i.e. eyes, face, hair, etc.  And you can buy more than one and place them where they'll fit in your space.

2. Comfortable Seating

Your comfort matters, especially during long makeup sessions.

  • Chair Selection: Opt for a comfortable chair that suits your needs. An adjustable chair is ideal for makeup artists working on clients; alternatively, consider one with no arms if you prefer to sit cross-legged.

  • Pro Tip: Spray Scotch Guard on fabric chairs to prevent makeup stains, ensuring your chair stays looking fresh and clean.

I like this Makeup Chair because it's adjustable - maybe you'll use it for clients, or you can adjust it according to your table height.

4. Optimal Lighting

Lighting can make or break your makeup application.

  • LED Lighting: Ensure you have good LED lighting that is both dimmable and temperature-changing. Tailoring the light to your working conditions can improve how you see colors and details in your makeup.

  • Mirrors: Invest in a large, high-quality mirror for an overall viewpoint, complemented by a close-up mirror that features a magnifying side. This will help you perfect every detail.

I love this Old Hollywood Vanity Lighting   It's both aesthetic and practical at the same time.

Creating your ideal makeup room doesn’t have to be complicated. By focusing on smart storage, comfortable seating, and optimal lighting, you can cultivate a space that inspires your makeup creativity and enhances your application skills.  For more product recommendations, check out my Beauty Room ideas page on Wayfair   Happy Decorating!

Hi Bellas,

I'm back with another video in the Makeup Artist Series.  One of the hardest things to do for both makeup artists and makeup wearers is getting the right foundation match.  There are many variables from shade, to undertone to coverage and finish.  With this video I show you how to match any person no matter how light or dark, how young or old using my fail proof method.  Check it out!

Hi Bellas,

As you all know, I am a self-taught makeup artist.  However, after years of working in the industry I was able to work with Industry Makeup Academy.  Not only did I receive my Makeup Artist Certification, but I was also able to join the team as an Instructor and Partner.  There are so many things that took me 10 years to learn, some the hard way, as a Makeup Artist.  Still, It's amazing how many new techniques and business tips I learned after all this time.  My goal is to spread the knowledge to anyone out there who has an interest in makeup and put them on the fast track to Makeup Artist success without having to make the same mistakes I've made.  Whether you've always had a passion for it and you're looking to change your career...or if you're right out of school interested in pursuing your own business.  Gaining a Makeup Artist Certification in 4 weeks or less is an investment worth looking into.  I always get asked, do I need a Makeup Artist Certification?  Check out the post below for 7 reason why you should be certified.

Hi Bellas,

If you've been following me on social media, you know that I've announced that I'll be hitting the road with IMA for our first USA Pro Makeup Artist Certification Tour.  The first stop is Orlando!  I'm so excited to give other cities the chance to become Certified Makeup Artists.  Check out the details below!

Hi Bellas,

I'm back with another video in my makeup artist series.  I am slightly obsessed with keeping an updated, organized kit.  I've revamped a lot of products in recent months as I've transitioned to doing makeup full time.  This is going to be a long video so I broke it down into separate parts.  Today I'm focused on what's in the top portion of my kit - skincare, foundation, and lashes.  Check out my blog for a detailed list of products.

Hi Bellas,

If you don't know by now that the Makeup Show Atlanta Pop-Up Shop is this weekend then i'm not doing my job!  I'm so excited for this show and especially for my panel during the show on Saturday June 18th at 5pm.  I've partnered with my girls Mimi Johnson from The Glamatory and Ebony Miller from Industry Makeup Academy.  I decided to this panel because I know that Atlanta is a thriving beauty market, and we need to come together as brothers and sisters in beauty, so that we can help everyone succeed and find their own niche.  My dream is to have Atlanta have a collaborative beauty industry with tons of educational and networking opportunities for everyone to experience.  This will not only lift up the level of talent, but also bring more opportunities and ensure that we're all making the money that we deserve.  No more undercutting other artists or selfishness in not wanting to help others - rather we're going to all build each other up for the better.

In this panel, we all have succeeded in different arenas of the beauty industry.  We're going to keep it real and tell you how we succeeded and why you may not be successful in makeup today.  This is an open forum to learn everything you can to make yourself a better Makeup Artist and Beauty Professional.  These opportunities don't come very day so I hope that you all take advantage of it.  Don't forget to purchase your advanced tickets by Thursday 6/16/16 at www.themakeupshow.com .  If you RSVP at www.meetup.com/atlanta-makeup-meetup you can purchase the student ticket rate and the first 30 people to check in at the show with their RSVP will receive a free makeup gift.

GIVEAWAY ALERT!!!
If you repost this picture on instagram, you're eligible to win a complimentary ticket!

Hi Bellas,

I wanted to invite all of you to my new Atlanta Makeup Meetup.  It's also a pre-event to the Atlanta Makeup Show Pop Up.  We're having a networking session with Celebrity Makeup Artist Bethany Townes of The Makeup Show.  She will be sharing a weath of information as well as a demo.  I know Bethany personally and she is a sincere, inspirational artist.  I always urge everyone to take advantage of events like this.  You learn so much, meet great contacts and are motivated to push on with your makeup journey.

I will also be giving away a free ticket to the Makeup Show Pop-Up Shop Atlanta.  You'll have free entry to the show, the exhibitor hall with huge discounts from name brand makeup companies, as well as access to tons of valuable makeup seminars.  To win, make sure to RSVP at www.meetup.com/Atlanta-Makeup-Meetup.  You can also RSVP to the Makeup Show Pop Up - those who RSVP will receive a free gift at entry.  I will be providing the names to the Makeup Show.

Can't wait to see you!

UP CLOSE & PERSONAL WITH REN REN, MAKEUP ARTIST

Renelyn Monteloyola, better known as Ren Ren the fabulous makeup artistblogger and YouTube star, hails from the Peach State where she creates pieces of art on faces. Let’s get a bit deep with Ren Ren and learn more about her beauty inspirations and secrets!

How did you first get into blogging and/or vlogging?
I actually was on the web searching for makeup ideas for NYE one year because I struggled with finding department store counter makeup artists who could work with my skin tone and eye shape.  I came upon a forum called Asian Beauty Blog where women just like me were posting their pictures and tips and tricks.  I was hooked!  I knew I had a knack for makeup and decided to start my own blog, then YouTube channel, and it was history from there!

Who’s your biggest inspiration or role model in the beauty world?
I am greatly inspired by many amazing artists – I would say my first huge role model was celebrity makeup artist Sam Fine.  He is a master makeup artist and a kind soul.  He really shows off beauty in a luminous and natural way and is an amazing person at the same time.

There are tons more on the blog including my favorite makeup tricks and trends.  Enjoy and happy reading!
